I honestly don\u2019t even know where to begin, but I need to get this out before I completely lose it.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m divorcing my husband, Alex, and I\u2019ve moved out with our kids, Harper (8) and Milo (5). Life was finally starting to feel a little normal again, like I could finally breathe, when my mother-in-law, Joan, showed up at my door.<\/p>\n

At first, she acted perfectly normal\u2014smiling, asking about the kids, even bringing cookies. I let her in, hoping we could keep things civil for the sake of the children.<\/p>\n

The first hour went smoothly. We made small talk, she complimented the house, asked about school. But soon, the subtle comments started\u2014remarks about how I \u201cshouldn\u2019t give up on Alex\u201d and how he \u201cwas miserable without me.\u201d<\/p>\n

I tried to brush them off, telling myself it was harmless, but inside I felt uneasy.<\/p>\n

A few days later, she returned. This time, it wasn\u2019t just comments. I started finding notes in my mailbox\u2014at first vague, like \u201cthink about your family\u201d or \u201cAlex misses you.\u201d But soon, her behavior escalated.<\/p>\n

Last week, she showed up banging on the door. I ignored it, thinking it was best, but then things got worse. Flyers started appearing in neighbors\u2019 mailboxes, falsely claiming I had been cheating on Alex.<\/p>\n

I tried to dismiss it as small-town gossip at first, but it didn\u2019t stop. She began taping signs around the neighborhood, suggesting I was a bad mother. Neighbors started giving me strange looks, whispering behind my back.<\/p>\n

My kids began coming home upset. Harper asked why people at school were whispering about me, and Milo said some kids called me a \u201cbad mommy.\u201d I felt like I was losing control of my own life.<\/p>\n
