I was only 18 when everything in my life changed overnight. I discovered I was pregnant\u2014frightened, overwhelmed, and far from ready. I was still trying to understand myself, let alone step into motherhood. What I needed most was support.<\/p>\n
Instead, my parents made it clear I was on my own.<\/p>\n
My father, especially, showed no compassion. His words were firm and final\u2014if I decided to keep the baby, then I would have to handle everything by myself. Soon after, I was asked to leave home and begin again in a small apartment, carrying fear, uncertainty, and a deep sense of isolation.<\/p>\n
To their credit, they did help financially. They covered my rent, gave me some money to manage, and paid for medical expenses until I could stand on my own. But financial support isn\u2019t the same as emotional presence. It doesn\u2019t comfort you when you feel lost or sit beside you when everything feels overwhelming.<\/p>\n
I went through childbirth without them. No familiar faces, no reassurance\u2014just me, facing one of the biggest moments of my life alone.<\/p>\n
Bringing my newborn home, I had to learn everything on my own\u2014how to feed, soothe, and care for a baby while barely holding myself together. I was still young and inexperienced, but life didn\u2019t give me time to adjust. I had to grow up quickly.<\/p>\n
