A week later, my heart sank when I saw an email revealing he\u2019d been sleeping in his car while working night shifts at a warehouse across town.<\/p>\n

I froze, reading the message repeatedly. He explained he hadn\u2019t asked for help because he wanted to prove he could finally stand on his own. He admitted my words had stung\u2014but also opened his eyes.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know you\u2019re disappointed in me,\u201d he wrote. \u201cBut I promise I\u2019m trying now.\u201d<\/p>\n

I felt a heavy weight in my chest. I had hoped that giving him a firm push would make him take responsibility\u2014but I hadn\u2019t imagined he\u2019d be struggling alone like this.<\/p>\n
