I thought Valentine’s Day could save my relationship, so I booked a $3,000 luxury hotel weekend for me and my boyfriend, Scott. We agreed to split the cost, but the weekend felt distant and awkward.
The next day, he told me he “needed space”… then dumped me over text while we were still at the hotel. He stayed. I left—devastated.
Soon, my phone started lighting up with charges: room service, spa treatments, pricey drinks. Everything went on my card. By the time the final bill arrived, it was $5,800. He had even brought another woman and charged her expenses to me.
Instead of pleading or yelling, I handled it quietly. Scott was an influencer and still logged into his social media on my iPad.
I shared the hotel bill along with a few “honest reviews” of the brands he promoted. Within hours, his followers dropped, brands pulled contracts, and his phone was flooded with angry calls.
When he confronted me, furious and claiming I’d destroyed his career, I simply said:
“You set this in motion the moment you decided to use me.”
