Savannah Guthrie made an emotional off-camera visit to the Today show, thanking her coworkers for their support and for “caring about my mom as much as I do.” She has been absent from the program since her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, who reportedly suffers from a heart condition, was allegedly kidnapped in Tucson at the end of January. Authorities, including the Pima County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, have not announced any significant breakthroughs in the case.
During the visit, Guthrie told staff, “I’m still standing… I still have hope… I don’t know how to come back, but I don’t know how not to.” She also said she fully intends to return to the show, although she does not yet know when that will happen.
Colleagues described the reunion as deeply emotional, with staff members praying together and offering support. Dylan Dreyer reportedly led a prayer asking for a “miracle,” while others said Guthrie remained strong, warm, and even humorous despite the difficult circumstances.
Her co-anchors emphasized that she is greatly loved and that she will be welcomed back whenever she feels ready.
