True but Hard to Believe: Three Real Stories That Defy Explanation

Some experiences don’t feel like ordinary memories—they feel unsettling, strange, and almost impossible to explain. While some may have rational answers, others remain unanswered, leaving people questioning what they truly witnessed. The following real-life accounts are the kind of stories that stay with you long after you hear them.

1. The 3 A.M. Voice

I woke up in the middle of the night around 3 a.m. to get a glass of water. As I walked back to my room, I distinctly heard my son’s voice coming from his bedroom.

“Mom, can you turn off the light?”

Without thinking, I went over and switched it off, then returned to bed. But halfway down the hallway, something suddenly hit me—my son wasn’t even home. He was away on a camping trip.

I froze.

I rushed back into his room, only to find everything exactly as it should be: empty, quiet, untouched. There was no one there.

The voice had sounded completely real. The next morning, I told my husband, but he laughed and said I must have been dreaming. Still, I know what I heard—and the memory still unsettles me.

2. The “Priscilla” Confusion

A wife sent a simple message to her husband:

“Don’t forget to pick up vegetables on your way home. Oh, and Priscilla says hi.”

A few minutes later, he replied:

“Who’s Priscilla?”

She smiled, thinking he was just confused, and answered jokingly:
“Nobody. I just wanted to see if you actually read my text.”

But then his next message made her uneasy:

“I’m with Priscilla right now. Which one are you talking about?”

Her hands started to shake as she typed back:
“Where are you?”

His response came quickly:
“Near the vegetable market.”

Ten minutes later, she asked again—and this time he replied calmly:
“I’m at the office. You’re the one at the market, so just buy the vegetables yourself.”

She stared at the screen, completely confused. The contradiction left her unsettled. Who was Priscilla, and what was really going on?

3. The Broccoli Incident

At dinner, a young boy refused to eat his broccoli no matter how much his mother insisted.

“Eat your vegetables,” she said firmly.

“I don’t want to!” the boy shouted.

His father leaned in and whispered something into his ear.

Immediately, the boy’s attitude changed. Without another word, he quickly finished every bite on his plate and ran off to his room.

Curious, the mother asked what he had said.

The father replied casually, “I told him that if he didn’t eat his broccoli, he wouldn’t grow properly.”

Angry, she slapped him.

Shocked, he asked, “What was that for?”

She glared at him and said, “Because you didn’t eat your broccoli when you were a kid.”
