One former press secretary, Stephanie Grisham, portrayed Ivanka and Jared Kushner as acting with a sense of entitlement and recounted incidents involving attempts to bypass protocol during official events. Kushner was also criticized by staff in various accounts for his role in high-level projects and his tendency to distance himself when issues arose.
After the end of the administration in January 2021, Ivanka publicly stated she was stepping away from politics to focus on her family life in Florida. As Donald Trump began another political campaign, she chose not to rejoin the political spotlight, prioritizing her children and a more private lifestyle.
Despite this withdrawal, questions about family loyalty and political involvement continued to surface. Reports from author Michael Wolff described internal campaign concerns following major international events, where the campaign sought public reassurance from Ivanka and Jared Kushner regarding the president’s image. However, they reportedly declined to issue the requested statement, signaling a clear boundary between their private life and political involvement.
This refusal highlighted an ongoing shift in their role within the family’s political sphere—remaining personally connected, but increasingly unwilling to serve as public defenders or political surrogates in future campaigns.
