Jamie Lee Curtis recently reiterated that her family does not owe the public explanations about their private lives. Responding to ongoing curiosity about her daughters, she noted that people cannot and do not need to identify which of them is transgender, and she prefers to keep it that way.
Her point was not about secrecy, but about dignity, privacy, and unconditional support. Curtis has been openly supportive of her daughter Ruby Guest since she came out as transgender in 2020, sharing that she and her husband felt “wonder and pride” as Ruby embraced her identity.
What stood out in her comments was the emphasis on boundaries: she challenged the idea that personal identity must be publicly defined or explained, instead highlighting the importance of allowing her children to define themselves on their own terms.
She has also expressed concern about increasing hostility toward transgender people, saying she worries for her daughter’s safety and remains committed to defending her right to live authentically.
