Wanting to make their fifth wedding anniversary unforgettable, Mark decided to go all out for his wife, Sarah.
He reserved an elegant hotel suite, filled the room with flowers and chocolates, and arranged a romantic candlelit dinner.
When Sarah stepped inside, she looked around in amazement.
“Mark, this is incredible! What’s the occasion?”
Mark flashed a proud smile.
“I figured after five years of marriage, it was time to bring a little extra romance back into our lives.”
Sarah laughed and gave him a kiss.
A short while later, Mark emerged from the bathroom wearing a brand-new silk robe. Feeling confident, he posed dramatically in the middle of the room.
“Well?” he asked. “What do you think?”
Sarah studied him carefully.
“You want the honest answer?”
“Absolutely.”
She nodded.
“You look like the ‘before’ photo in one of those weight-loss advertisements.”
Mark froze, momentarily speechless.
Trying to regain his dignity, he chuckled and said, “At least I’m still the same man you married.”
Sarah agreed.
“That’s true.”
A relieved smile spread across his face.
Then she delivered the finishing blow.
“And just like the day we got married, you’re still trying way too hard to impress me.”
The rest of the evening was filled with laughter, great food, and plenty of playful teasing.
According to the hotel staff, the anniversary dinner was a huge success.
But when it came to witty comebacks, Sarah was the undisputed champion of the night.
